Campus Estates Animal Hospital is currently accepting applications for our 2022-2023 4th Year DVM Student Externship. This is a great opportunity to apply your classroom education within a hospital environment and acquire first-hand experience in working closely with our veterinarians and incredible support team comprised of over 45 RVTS, VAs and CSRs. You will develop practical and professional skills by gaining exposure and education in the following areas:
- Patient intake and history
- Triage and emergency care
- Interactive exotic education including small mammals, reptiles and avians
- In-patient treatments and case dynamics
- Assisting in advanced diagnostics and procedures
- Hands-on compassionate care duties
- Client communication and education
Requirements:
- Applicants must be current Canadian students enrolled in a DVM program
- Must have completed 3rd year of DVM program
- Due to the high volume of interest, we are asking for applicants who have a keen interest in emergency and/or exotic medicine only currently
- Must be able to repeatedly lift at least 40 lbs
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations
- Initiative to carry out assignments independently
- Work effectively within a larger team
