Cats have a large range in their need/desire for social contact. We see low requirement in some cats – these cats would tend to live on the periphery of a social group. There are other cats that have a high requirement of social interaction. These cats are found in the middle of a group of cats. When we pair high requirement owners with low requirement cats, there tends to be a mismatch. It is important to observe what your cat’s requirements are. Low requirement cats would prefer to observe from a distance, ensure that they have plenty of escape routes and areas of seclusion.
