Dr. Elysha Smith completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours in Zoology at the University of Guelph in 2015. She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2020.

Elysha grew up in Newmarket, Ontario. Growing up had a variety of pets including dogs, rats, and a variety of birds; all of which made her want to pursue a career in veterinary medicine and specifically exotic medicine. Throughout school, Elysha participated in research involving backyard poultry; she presented her research at multiple veterinary conferences. She has also been an active member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, being a co-chair of the student subcommittee for 3 years.

Elysha has a special interest in working with birds of all kinds, small mammals and reptiles.

In her spare time, Elysha enjoys working on a crocheting or knitting project, curling up with a good book or going bird watching. She lives with her two hedgehogs (Gizmo and Atticus) and her fiancée.
